Twin flame energy

So I have a guy that has been in my life for 5 years now. We were together for 2 1/2 and had absolutely no contact for about 6 months. We now have a good relationship with each other again but aren’t together. He tells me sometimes that he loves me and when we do see each other it’s like the love never died. I also feel the same about him. I don’t know what the outcome of this will be…we both have not loved anyone else or been in a relationship since we broke up. We basically both know we love each other but no one does anything about it. I’m so connected to him it’s insane and every-time we do hook up I can’t get enough. If we both know we love each other, is it fear? I think he is afraid of getting hurt again …anyone ever experience this ??? Or has anyone experienced being without your twin flame???
