Should I get my son tested for covid?

The school called and told us someone in his class has tested postive. They aren't requiring a test but idk if I should go ahead and get him tested. So far he's just fine, no sickness at all. 
We already have to quarantine for 2 weeks.

I’d wait until at least 4 days after the initial exposure, and I think waiting until he shows symptoms is also very reasonable. My daughter was exposed at school on 8/13 and we made the choice to immediately quarantine her (although the school wasn’t requiring it YET) and get her tested on 8/17.

I’m getting the sense that most pediatricians won’t test unless your kiddo is showing symptoms. They just recommend quarantine and monitoring for anything out of the ordinary. I’m so sorry you’re going through the stress of this! It’s such a hard time to be a parent 😔

This happened at my daughter’s school last week. We called her pediatrician and they said they didn’t want to do a test unless she was showing symptoms since we had to quarantine anyway. I’d call your child’s doctor and ask what their procedure is since it may vary based on where you are and the practice.

Wait 3-5 days before testing. It won’t show up this early in him. So play the waiting game if you feel he might be exposed. 
We chose not to test our daughter at daycare who was exposed. We just did the quarantine.

When ever I got sick even before covid I stayed home anyway but even with covid now the past almost 2 years if I get sick I just stay home and don't get tested because I stay home anyway and I have a thing against someone trying to shove something in me. One of the reasons why I did not get an epidural when I gave birth because I did not want a catheter. It creeeped me out lol! I dont like things going in my butt, my urethra, or my nose! Luckily I'm a stay at home mom on a farm so its really easy for me to be secluded. He will be ok, no need for testing
