Any wisdom/tips - smart almost 4 year old is experimenting with lying

No

He started telling big pretend stories a few months ago, elaborate ones about when he used to live on a boat in another country and more normal ones about tv characters coming to hang out and play with him and other imaginary friends.

Now it’s getting more serious. Like saying he finished his lunch but actually throwing away part of it. Saying he put his clothes in the laundry bin but actually throwing them on the floor. And lying about his classmates and teachers when I ask him how Mothers Day Out went.

I’m sure I’ll find my way through and build his character appropriately and steer him towards honesty being best, but I’d love any tips or advice you have on hindsight after having come through this!

Thanks in advance! 💕
