I really need ideas
So I have a fire place that has a long brick sitting area that is almost as long as the living room itself. It’s probably about a foot and a few inches tall. I have a foam guard on the edges and corner of it so my kids don’t hit their heads if they trip near it, but my older kids like to sit on it sometimes. Thanks to this my 1 year old copies them, but instead he climbs up there and stands on it and tries to pull the tv down, attempts to walk (he’s very new to walking so not very stable) along the sitting area, etc. basically anything to give me a heart attack. I have tried putting full diaper boxes or wipe boxes, big pillows, etc to seem like there is no room for him to get up there. But he finds a way or eventually knocks something down, crawls up there and pushes the rest off. Today he climbed up there and was standing up there as soon as I walked to the kitchen (literally 4 steps away from the living room) to get him his drink and as I was walking back he realized I caught him and was quickly trying to move away from me as I approached him to get him down and he ended up slipping on the edge and falling onto the carpet. He’s perfectly fine because it was a very short fall but Im worried if he were to slip and fall the other way then he’d hit the brick wall or sitting surface. Any advice to stop him or more ways to cover this area up would be great. I’ve tried padding but my 2 year old loves defying me and loves ripping it off. I think I’m going to have a heart attack before I’m 25 thanks to these kids
