How to slowly break away from the paci?

My son is getting ready to be 13 months and loves his paci. I want to take it but I want to do it easily. He mainly uses it to sleep and he always has to have it in. Thank you!

We did cold turkey. She only asked for it twice and within 3 days she forgot about it completely

Only thing that ever worked for me was cold turkey. I have seen others say cutting the tip helped. Although I had the nubba with the stuffed animal so I let him keep the animal just no more binky. Good luck its a tough time to kick the paci but you can do it if you stick to it.

We did it cold turkey but with a warning. About a week before I explained to my son the paci fairy was coming to take his paci because he’s a big boy now and there are sad babies who need a paci. So every night I would explain it to him so he was prepared. The night came and I took a couple days off work because I was convinced it was going to be a nightmare. The first night he fell asleep fine but woke up once crying so he slept with me then in the morning I made sure there was a toy waiting for him from the paci fairy. And after that he was good, only one night of crying

My son loved Toy Story so I bought a little buzz and woody. I made it into such an exciting deal that they had come to live with us!! “This means you’re a big boy now!!” I clipped the end of the paci and when he asked for it I gave it to him. He put it in his mouth, took it out and asked what’s wrong with it. I said “ohh it’s broken cause big boys don’t need pacis. That’s why buzz and woody are here”. he was like okay then cuddled with them to fall asleep 😀👍🏻 he was 2 years old.

We tried doing it cold turkey around your son’s age and were almost successful, but she got sick and we had to relent. 
We tried again a few months before she turned two and that time it worked. She cried a couple times as she was falling asleep, but had pretty much forgotten about it by the third day.

We did cold turkey at 9 months and  him a lovey for something to hang on to and cuddle with a night. He has loved his lovey ever since e and he’s almost 3.
