What do you do to save money?

Not super parenting related but what do you do to save money? Sometimes I just feel like I’m drowning 😭 thank you!

I watch for special clearance sales like on walmart or old navy online and buy next size up for my kids. I do my own mani pedis. Cook at home and try not to waste money on unhealthy snacks eg chips and cookies etc. Basic drip coffee at home. Shoes are very basic/versatile style so we dont buy a lot. Kids birthdays and holidays we keep very modest....they are happy with just a couple of small toys and a few clothes as their gift and dont expect a huge volume....it also teaches them moderation and to value what they have. We also bought cloth napkins and lots of barmop cloths and hardly buy napkins or paper towels anymore.

Buy secondhand, use coupons, cook seasonally and meal plan so food isn’t wasted. Walk/bike/use public transport instead of driving when possible. Buy quality clothes that will last years instead of fast fashion.

Any bills we had we did the snowball method. Only spend on actual needs vs wants. I.e. electricity is technically a need where cable is a want.  Coupon. Cook budget friendly meals at home that can even last you a couple days.

Take out cash. We noticed if we use our debit card it’s so easy to go overboard but when we have just cash, it makes us hyper aware of what and how much we’re spending

Smart spending habits like only buying what you know you can afford, putting needs before wants, shopping around for the best price, coupons, buying floor models when possible, but slightly damaged products ( dented soup cans, scratched car, etc ) 
Smart saving habits like low risk investments for a small stream of passive income, having savings accounts with high interest, looking into how to achieve compound interest, paying ABOVE the minimum payment on credit cards to lower the amount you’re paying in interest

Buy second hand clothes, books, toys, bikes, kitchen gadgets. Only buy what you need and not “extras” to keep up with the Jones’. 
Don’t buy into the massive Christmas/birthday gifts or parties - at most do the gifts of 3 and stop there. Your kid will still love a simple birthday at home where you spend time together. 
Start a small home garden - raised bed, container garden, or just dig around in some dirt and plant seeds inside then move them outside. Doesn’t need to be fancy but even kids like to dig around and see plants grow. 
Meal prep or cook in bulk and freeze. Also no shame in the hotdog and beans dinner game. Keep meals simple. 
If needed contact a financial advisor. Teach yourself and your kids to pay off debt and then save 10% for the future. 
Give back to your community. When we are generous we get back ten fold. It’s basic do nice to others.

Coupons for larger purchases (diapers, wipes etc). Put money away every week automatically. We don’t use credit cards, save for everything that we want upfront. Buy some things secondhand.
