When did you wean off pacifier and how?

My baby who is 2 months old depends on the pacifier to nap, sleep at night and soothe. When did you wean it off and any tips on how?

We bought my son a plush woody and buzz from toy story. That was his favorite movie at the time. We made it into a big deal that they came to live with us since he turned 2 and could sleep with him! I snipped the end of the paci and when he asked for it I gave it to him. He asked what was wrong with it. I said “oh big boys don’t need pacis”. He was like okay whatever and happily went to bed with his new friends in his arms. 😊

I haven’t yet but my friend did it before her son turned 2 and she just took them away. He cried for about a week and then did fine. She did give him lots of cuddles.
