Am I to blame?

This is such a childish post. But I was doing laundry today and put my clothing that was in the basket, a pair of my husband shorts and a blanket. There were some stuff in the washing machine that I assumed my husband had put (which he did) a couple minutes into the was he comes to realize that his expensive AirPods were in there and got upset at me for not checking his pockets to see if they were there. Mind you, they had been missing for days and I never put anything inside the washer that’s his aside the shorts that had nothing. I am assuming he put his AirPods in his clothing days prior but somehow blaming me for it? I got annoyed when he told me to check the pockets bc that’s not my job to check? He Said i should stop getting so defensive and just do a better job. I know this is a silly situation but it’s the little instances like this where he points a finger at me and says I’m defensive when I rlly feel like I’m not at fault. Am I in the wrong? I need to know.
