Help!

So my husband and I recently had a incident with his ex (no cheating) something that got me quite up set but we worked it out and we talked about being more honest and trying to communicate with each other on anything, but I wanted to make sure he was willing to do so because we have a lot of issues with communication and honesty on his side , so I know this is going to sound toxic asf but I just had to know because we’ve been down this rabbit hole so many times and I didn’t want to go through it again , my cousin offered to text him off a different number , she was going to say hello , his ex’s name , and ask him how he was , so my cousin texts him and says hello and he asks who it is she says his ex’s name , he stops responding but he never once tells me that “his ex” texted him , so I waited all night to see if he would bring it up and nothing , I want to bring it up and ask why he didn’t tell me( not fight just bring it up ) because when I chose to fix things with him he agreed to better communication and bringing these things up if they were to ever occur again , am I wrong should I leave it alone ? I know he didn’t respond but I wanted him to tell me about it instead of hiding it and deleting the messages. Which they are deleted I checked his phone
