Elementary Teachers out there?? Seeking advice!

Question

I am a school social worker in a K-5 building and come into contact with all of the students because I teach character Ed in their classrooms as well as do counseling, whole school parties, etc. Looking for some announcement advice. Should I just tell the kids about baby as they notice my growing belly or announce it with a cute "Santa baby" or "bump's first Christmas" shirt? Not sure what is appropriate. Thanks!

Lol I just wait for the asking! I had two early losses & am always so nervous to tell so usually by the time the kids start asking I'm far enough along to feel much safer announcing.

I'm a third grade teacher. I'm 16 weeks and all of the staff already know. None of the kids know yet simply because they haven't guessed yet and I haven't told them. I'm waiting to see who guesses first and what they say! I won't deny it if they ask me, so then it will spread like wildfire among them. Then, I imagine the questions will roll in. I'm looking forward to it, but it's not my style to announce. I think it will be fun to see them work it out for themselves!

I teach first grade. We made thankful bags to share before thanksgiving & everyone shared 3 things they were most thankful for. I made a bag & I added a pacifier in my bag & had them guess why I had that item in there! I got some funny guesses but they were surprised when someone guessed correctly!

I work in an elementary school as well. I work with Pre-K 4 but our school goes all the way to 5 th grade. I am close with a lot of kids in various grades because I've worked with them in previous years. I wore a shirt on Halloween to announce my pregnancy to the staff and the kids and they all "got it." It was super fun and it was super sweet to see the expressions on my co workers faces and the kids faces! It took a minute for my four year olds to get it but once they did, it was so cute. Now they ask about her every day and they hug my belly and rub it. They will even lean down and talk to her. It's sooooo cute! I was 14 weeks when I announced. Now I am almost 20.

Just let them know you are expecting and when you will be leaving. Kids get really excited but their main question is "are you still going to be my teacher?" I said to my kids, "we're going to do an activity called, what should we name Mrs. Rivers' baby girl?" They loved it because they felt involved.

My coworkers already knew but I surprised my class by wearing a "Bump's 1st Christmas" shirt and they LOVED it!!!  When we found out it is a boy - I did a lesson on graphing and we graphed their predictions before I revealed who won. Now they ask how he is every day. They're my extended family - it was just as fun to tell them as my own family!!

Kids love things like the shirt or a game with clues. People saying " it's not professional clearly have no grasp on kids.
