Nexplanon issues?

Question

This period is a nightmare. Heavy flow with cramping comparable to a miscarriage and back pain from hell. I haven’t had a period like this in about 8 months, since I had none at all, and I’ve had my implant (Nexplanon) for a year. Is this normal?
Ive also recently gained 20 pounds in a couple months. Haven’t eaten more, if anything less. If I am eating more I don’t remember doing it, and my partner doesn’t either. Help?!

I had Nexplanon for 7 years… it was the WORST. From getting it at the beginning, it was 6 or 7 months before my first period on the implant. From there, every period lasted 3-4 weeks, heavy flows, severe symptoms, and so irregular, that I might miss a month completely or have another period a week after one ended. Unfortunately, I think it just causes these problems for some women. I switched to the pill, though, and have been perfectly regular, started on the same day every month, 5-6 day periods with incredibly lighter flow and WAY less, if any, symptoms. This kind of period may not become the norm for you, but I wanted to give the heads up that it might. I’m hoping for the best for you!
