Short cervix at 20+6 weeks

I went in for my anatomy scan this morning and was told that my cervix was at 2.6 cm and was put on vaginal progesterone. I have to go back in on the 14th to make sure the progesterone is helping. If it isn’t, they suggested that we do a stitch in the cervix. Has anyone had to go through this? Did the progesterone help you? Did you end up having to get the stitch? Was the stitch painful and how long did it put you out?

I have an important trip to Texas on Sunday until the 11th that I can not miss.. I’m really worried about spontaneously going into preterm labor and losing my baby because I pushed myself too hard or because the trip was too much in my body.

The trip can not be canceled or rescheduled because I have to get my daughter to her dads for their court ordered visitation (we are in Missouri, he is in Texas) and my little sister is graduating college.
