How long did you breast feed for?

I was only able to breast feed until my oldest boy was 8 months then I ran dry. My second was only 4-5 months bc I caught an infection 2x in a row & had to take bad meds & they were so close together I wasn't able to get my supply up from the first infection & lost it all completely. I feel like a failure as a mother. Just wondering what the average age most mothers are able to breast feed to. Hoping my little ones got a bigger benefit then harm. Hate that I had to use formula :(

I tried to breast fed my two boys from the moment they were born but could not produced enouhg breast mild and my first son ended up refusing my breasts, so I had to used formula. I felt so guilty that I hated myself and my Dc told me that I shouldn't feel bad because not all the babies like to suck breast. My 2nd boy tried  to sucked on it but there were just  dropped that came out of it.

I did my first son till he was almost 3 and I'm currently still breast-feeding my second 8 month old son. I've had mastitis with both boys.  It's no big deal u just have to keep feeding them so ur milk stays up. I'm lucky though I produce an over flow milk. I've always had alot.

My first son didn't want to nurse past 9 months but my second son nursed until a week before he was 3! He is soooo healthy! I'm glad he chose to breast feed that long, it's really good for babies and toddlers!

Ateast you got the first three months that's the most important also the formula now a days is pretty close to breast milk it's nt like it use to be. Don't worry you did good
