How do u build credit??

I keep getting denied a credit card because I have no credit history. How tf am I supposed to start if I keep getting denied?? Im a new graduate and have been working for a few months now. How did y’all get started??

I got a discover student card when I was 18 with no credit, just a freshman in college. I was originally approved for a $500 spending limit and worked my way up to a higher limit. I am now 22 and my credit score is better than a lot of adults I know. No complaints as long as you pay it off like you’re supposed to.

A secured credit card as a cash deposit that you put down and that is your cash spending limit which is your credit limit, that’s usually how most people establish credit, or fix or credit after bankruptcy etc. do not overextend yourself of credit, I know it is tempting, but only use what you can afford, things that you normally purchase your gasoline, your food, that sort of thing, make sure you paid in full before the due date each month, you can download an app called credit wise, capital one owns that, and they check your credit weekly without it affecting your credit and they give you options and things like that to improve your credit. The higher the credit limit available, and the more credit available, the better off you are, But I would start with a minimum of 500, but you’re probably better off with 1000 or 1500, but at least 500.￼

Use it for something you’re already used to buying like gas or groceries. Then pay it off with the cash you would have used. Leaving a small balance month to month can occasionally reflect well as long as it’s under that 20-30%. Each institution has different things that they’re looking for too so talk with a lender to learn what they specifically are looking for from you.
