He’s here!!
My little boy Ellis made his arrival on December 7th. I was induced at 39 weeks and gave birth at 39+1.
I went in on Monday evening to be induced, when I got to hospital I was 2cm dilated but my cervix was still far back and thick So I had the gel on my cervix to dilate me. I had the gel twice and started getting regular contractions, while I was on the monitor, my baby’s heart rate was dropping regularly so they said it would be safest to break my waters to speed up the delivery. I was taken down the the delivery suite at 12:00 and had my waters broken, I went from a 2-4cm instantly and my contractions started becoming more painful and regular. I used the gas and air but my contractions started becoming so close together they were basically back to back so I asked for the epidural. My midwife said the anaesthesiologist was in theatre so I would have to wait until he was finished, so I got the Diamorphine injection to tide me over until I got my epidural. 20 minutes later, the anaesthesiologist came in the room to finally give me my epidural, as I was sat on the bed getting the epidural, I started feeling tonnes of pressure with each contraction and felt like he was coming out! I told my midwife this and she said it was impossible because I was only 4cm half an hour ago, but I was begging to be checked because I knew he was coming out. Once my epidural was in place, my contractions were that strong and close together I was basically screaming. The midwife still wouldn’t check me because she didn’t believe I was that far along. She left the room and I got another contraction along with intense pressure and told my husband to get the midwife back in because he was coming. She comes back into the room and reluctantly said she would check me, as soon as I opened my legs, she saw his head crowning. She pulled the emergency buzzer to get another midwife in the room and I started pushing. I have never felt pain like that in my life, I thought I was going to die, after 5 minutes of pushing, baby boy was out and placed on my chest! It was such a different birth to my first because the epidural was in place hours before I had to push and I didn’t feel anything where as with this birth, I felt everything as the epidural didn’t have time to work.
I got a second degree tear so lots of stitches but he is worth all the pain I went through💙
Ellis Reuben, 14:58 weighing 8lb 13oz
