12 weeks unpaid maternity leave, how to deal.
I work from home, this is what is offered in my state and country. I cannot afford to take the whole time. Also, my company does not have short term disability as a benefit. Anyone been in a similar situation? Not sure if I want to take 6 or 8 weeks. I know I cannot take the whole 12. But my job is laid back for the most part, and I only have about 2 meetings daily which I could plan naps around.
Advice on working from home with a newborn would be appreciated. No I cannot afford help, no I cannot afford to send him to daycare, it would use up nearly my entire paycheck, no I do not live near anyone that could take care of him or come by to help out.
Also, if you do not live in the US please don’t reply, I know you all were blessed with paid maternity leave.
Edit: my company also doesn’t do a set amount of PTO, it’s basically unlimited. But I’m unable to use any for this situation. So my unlimited paid vacation, can not be used. The entire time will be unpaid.
