Is our mothers helper behaving unprofessionally?

We hired a mother’s helper to do laundry and run errands. When she started we agreed on an hourly rate but not a payment schedule.

On our first day she asked to be paid immediately and of course we did. But I told her moving forward we prefer a schedule of making payment every 2 weeks.

Meanwhile she’s supposed to be running errands for us but isn’t ok with paying out of pocket and being reimbursed. She said she doesn’t have enough in her account. She asked to take our credit card on errands and I said no. So we’ve been giving her cash. But she seems to keep finding reasons to ask for our credit card info. Like one time she was supposed to exchange something but said the clerk accidentally returned it so she needed my credit card number.

Or she’ll run errands and come back with nothing because we didn’t give here enough cash. (Sometimes less than $10 off).

Now when I ask her if we can consolidate payment at the end of the week she says things like “I need it for car repairs today” or “I was hoping to give my daughter the cash today before she leaves for school”.

Is this gal just down and out on her luck or is there something fishy going on?

My husband doesn’t trust her and wants us to let her go. She had a DUI on her background check and he thinks her niceness isn’t sincere but it that of a con artist.
