Dumb random Relationship question

Do you think you have to tell people you’re in a relationship even if it’s been a while? Like do you feel like you need to tell your friends or family you are with a person? Like me I like to keep things personal like if somethings happening I like to keep it my business unless I have a reason to tell or something happened so im not really public in the first place with anything and with that I have a strict mom etc and I’ve been with this person for about 2 years but i never said anything because 1 she’s strict 2 im scared asf plus there’s nothing happening for me to need to tell her I’m with someone. Anyway do you PERSONALLY feel like you have to tell the people around you that?
