Would you pay for your own engagement ring?

I personally don’t mind contributing for mine, I’d happily buy the whole thing 😁

I wouldn’t BUT I would have gladly accepted a $10 ring, it’s the thought that counts for me. The ring wasn’t really important. I did however tell my husband at the time we started talking about marriage the style of ring I liked and explained to him that the best sales happen around holidays and NOT TO SPEND A TON ON A RING. And he did indeed listen and hit a great sale lol we also waited till their was a sale to get our wedding bands.

I mean, we already lived together and shared money, so even though the money came out of my account (we use mine for savings/food etc, his for bills) I don't really think of it as me paying for my own ring 🤷‍♀️ But even if I did, I don't really mind, I suggested he get one at the time because the jewellers was having a sale. He didn't propose until 8 months later 🙃

No, I wouldn’t pay for the engagement ring, to me it’s a symbolic gift FROM my partner. That said, we did pay for our wedding bands out of our joint account.

I think that if I saw my dream ring like absolutely perfect but quite a bit out of my now fiancé’s budget, I would pay half on it. I don’t see a point in taking out a loan or whatever for a piece of jewelry if you have the money when put together. If it were in his budget then I obviously wouldn’t or if I didn’t like it that much then I wouldn’t. But if it was something I absolutely had to have, then I would be fine paying some on it.
Actually when creating my ring (custom made) I almost did pay part on it but our gemologist was able to find a better diamond that was more in line with our price range. If it weren’t for that, then I would have happily paid some on it myself because it’s what I really wanted.

To me I didn't care. The ring doesn't make a marriage and it can't make a marriage work. It's just symbolic for the marriage. The commitment, the hard times, and the struggles and the heart ache and joy and working together as 2 not 1 makes a marriage.
