Would u take time out of work for ur kids birthday

My daughters birthdays on the 23rd of this month and I work at a restaurant when I told my boss if I could have off he said it would be really busy and he needs me. I start work at 5 to 10 so I will have the morning with her because I’ll be dropping her off at 4:30 at my grandmothers. My grandmother will most likely bring her out with her little cousins but I just feel bad that I’m gonna be working I know she won’t remember but that’s not the point She only turns 3 once and idk I feel wrong for missing half the day with her
