Wean from bottle?

Question

I have a 12 month old and need to start weaning her off the bottle for milk and start having her drink milk from another type of cup. We’ve tried an open cup which we’ve had some success with and a cup with a straw (for some reason she refuses milk out of a straw). I’m going to try the munchkins 360 cup next. Any other suggestions or tips for weaning from bottle for milk? (She still drinks pumped breastmilk from a bottle 4 times a day. We are going to try to transition to cow’s milk after we successfully wean off the bottle). Thanks!

Don't stress too much about milk. Kids don't need whole milk, that's old science. My kids just drink water. 
But weighted straw cups have worked best for us. If you have hardwood, I wouldn't put milk in a 360. Once they throw it, the contents go everywhere.

No tips since my son refused milk after it was put not into a bottle. 
At 12 months I started mixing formula and milk, adding less and less formula until it was 100% milk, he was fine with it, but as soon as I ditched the bottles closer to 14 months, he just refused milk completely, never cried about it, never asked. 
He drinks water from an open cup and various straw cups. 
His pediatrician told us it’s all fine, some toddlers just don’t like or want milk, it’s not necessary if a kid has a well balanced diet. And I give him Vitamin D drips daily. 
I’m actually happy about this situation, having heard so many stories when toddlers were so attached to milk, preferring it to regular food, crying for their bedtime/night bottles, etc

After 12 months it doesn’t really matter how much milk they drink (if they are eating a variety of solids). 
My LO would never take a bottle at all, and wouldn’t drink breast milk from any other cup… but cold cows milk straight from the fridge, she CHUGS that from her straw cup with her breakfast and lunch lol Loves it. She’s 14 months and we are down to only breastfeeding at bedtime now.

We switched to 360 cups the same time as we switched to whole milk. We started to mix the breastmilk and whole milk and gradually reduced breast until it was all whole milk. Once it was all whole milk, it was in a 360. We did it one meal at a time, so we started with breakfast and when that meal was down to 2oz breast / 4oz whole milk, we started reducing the lunch one. Our kids would have a 360 of whole for breakfast but still bottles for other meals and then it would be a 360 of whole for breakfast and lunch, etc. We liked this because it was only one transition instead of two. Both of our kids did really well with it and were off bottles and whole milk within two weeks of their 1 year birthday.

I just stopped giving formula to my baby cold turkey at 11 months and he took milk well. He still drinks.it from a bottle but he will throw it down when HE is ready. But he does take a sippy cup as well

This is the only cup my son would drink out of. And I tried everything!! Spent at least $50 on sippy cups for him to like the cheapest ones. I wanted to slowly wean my son and just give bottles in the morning and at night, but give him the sippy cup throughout the day. Then I asked myself, why? Why do that to him? Why prolong the inevitable? So we cut bottles cold Turkey. He now only has a bottle if his mouth is hurting him so bad that he can’t. We had zero problems cutting them. 
As for milk milk, you can slowly start changing the ratio of some bottles. Like if baby has 8oz a day, do 2oz of milk to 6oz of breast milk. Then 4oz of each. Then 2oz breast milk to 6oz of milk. Or do it cold Turkey. I would talk to your dr about whether your child needs whole milk or not. Even though it’s outdated, baby still needs calcium and fat from milk. However, if baby’s diet is rich in calcium and fat and the other nutrients, you don’t need the milk. Or you can talk to their doctor about appropriate supplementation. 
Babies will drink whenever they’re hungry/thirsty! You just have to hold out.
