False labor?

Have any of you had prodromal labor? And if so how long after you had it did you go into real labor? I had a doctors appt today, routine visit. I was having a contraction when they were taking my fundal height. I knew I was having them but I get BH contractions a lot and never think anything of it. They hooked me up to do a NST just to check and I was having consistent contractions every 3 minutes. So they sent me to L&D. For about 6 hours my contractions remained solid, every 3 minutes. They were strong, but not painful. They felt to me like the ones that get you to a 6-7. The doctor checked me three times and I’m able 1 cm dilated, soft cervix, but long and not effaced. After 8 hours there and no cervix changes I asked to go home. I’m only 34+5, but never had anything like this with my previous 3 pregnancies. I’ve always had a ton of BH contractions, but none that intense and that regular. My doctor was pretty convinced I was in labor until they spread out further. I’m still having them, but they’re way less intense. Just curious if labor followed closely for you ladies or baby came at normal time? TIA!!
