Homicides at an all time high in 2021 with many cities breaking records-thoughts?

Question

So I saw in the news this morning that several cities across the country have broken records for numbers of homicides which started a discussion with my husband and I. What do you guys think were the major factors of these numbers outside of states like Texas who are super gun happy? Is it lack of police presence in certain areas? More hostility due to Covid? I’d like to hear everyone’s thoughts! 
*Edit to add as there seems to be confusion-the first screen shot talks about Texas specifically but the second lists other cities with record breaking numbers as well-so not just Texas.

I’d say it’s a mixture of a lot of things. During the pandemic many people were stuck at home with their abusers, people lost jobs/ business and are now struggling to live/ feed their kids. 
People who do have good jobs are still struggling to pay bills. We can’t afford to take days off or get sick. Not to mention medical bills. 
Lots of things are also dividing people right now. People are tearing their families apart over the decision to vaccinate or not. Or if they follow the BLM movement or back the badge. Democrat or republic. The mindset lots of people are adopting of “if you don’t agree with me you are just plain wrong/ evil”

People are at an all time low.  Wages are decreased or non-existent in instances, yet the cost of living continues to go up.  I think people are getting desperate to do whatever they can to survive.  Crime in general seems to be on the rise.  My sister recently moved and her old home had an attempted burglary followed by an actual burglary in the same week as they tried to empty the home of all of their belongings.  This was in a neighborhood she’s lived in for years and never had an issue.

People are politically divided under a government that thrives on division, covid controversy and restrictions, isolation, increased presence and involvement on social media, lack of faith in authority figures, lack of trust in law enforcement, lack of employment, inflation, high costs, etc etc. there will never be one correct answer

I think it's likely pandemic related, as well as financial problems that have been going on for years and just gotten worse with the pandemic - Unemployment, wage stagnation, inflation, a housing crisis, rising rates of homelessness, etc

Gun control, gun violence and gun death has also risen. 77% of all murders are caused by guns. No point of having really strong gun control in one place and really poor gun control in another.

I believe it’s can be attributed to political figures on multiple levels. Primarily, a lack of leadership at the state level and tremendous overreach at the federal level. States need to take back the power afforded to them by the constitution and people need to be more concerned with their local elections and who they elect. We need leaders on the local level that keep violent and repeat offenders off our streets.

I’m in Philly & there’s a lot of issues here that the pandemic exacerbated, such as low wages, homelessness, drugs/gangs, lack of funding for schools, etc. Doesn’t help that there’s a lot is distrust in the police & the fact that PPD is corrupt & racist. The government here has always made kinda stupid decisions as well 🤷🏻‍♀️
