My cat is tearing up my carpet..claws

I live in an apartment so it's a huge deal. She just started doing this and idk why. I think she does it when my door is shut trying to get in, but sometimes I've seen her do it on the carpet just because. She has a scratch pad and toys that she can use, she's not use to carpet so maybe she thinks it's okay to tear up. I don't want to HAVE to leave the door open.

.....I sprayed some lavender by the door so maybe she won't do it anymore. Idk, is there anything else I can do? I have no idea how to fix the damn carpet.
