Suggestions on how long to wait before you tell work?

Hey guys. When is a good time to tell work that your pregnant? Does it matter when ?

I told one manager at 8 weeks because of how sick I was. Then she left a week later and I had to tell another manager shortly after 😂 
But it truly depends on what you’re comfortable with. If I wasn’t sick, I was going to wait until I was showing.

It honestly depends on how close you are with your boss/ HR etc. I’m the HR dept and tell your boss or HR anywhere from 12-18 weeks. If you’re having morning sickness and needing to miss work then bring it up sooner

Personally, I would wait until I was showing if it was in person, if possible. From home, I would send an email a month or so before.

I started my current job when I was almost done with my first trimester. I told my manager once we had our 20week anatomy scan and I felt that everything was fine. I work from home so I didn’t feel a physical urgency to tell anyone

I told mine sooner than I would have liked because the week after I found out I was pregnant, a guy in my office quit and we were going to be short on that particular position for a long time due to the training required for it, and I held the same position, so the guy's work would get split between me and the others who were still there. The schedule was out to September and I was due in July, so I felt like I needed to let them know sooner rather than later so they could adjust the schedule accordingly. But we have statutory mandates for things pertaining to our work so planning out the staffing is important. Also, my office is pretty family friendly, so I wasn't worried about judgment or losing my job/status.

I told work around 6 weeks when I had to take time off for bed rest when I started bleeding. I work a very high demand job and it wasn’t possible to hide it safely.

I told my boss really early because I was so sick but I wish I had the option to hold off because I do feel they held back a promotion until after my leave was over so they didn’t have to pay me more while I was on leave.
