Long Labor but 100% Worth It

Melissa

Finley came on January 9th 11:21 am at 39 weeks but I went into labor around almost midnight Thursday January 6th. I got an epidural at 4 cm because I’d already been laboring for over 24 hours. Then at 9 pm January 8th it wore off on my right side and I got stuck at 8.5 cm but couldn’t move to help my labor progress. By 8 am they came and gave me Pitocin ( with my consent ) to help and at 10:30 I was ready to start pushing - epidural completely ran out by now. By the time my OB got there I pushed through one contraction and he was holding my baby’s head. Nothing was more relieving! Until I got the shakes. My husband had to take Finley for skin to skin because I couldn’t sit still and was still practically screaming in pain while they shoved my uterus back down. I don’t remember anything after that I just remember waking up 2 hours later to see the loves of my life snuggled up. That moment made all of it with it. Every day I feel more and more like myself again, but next time I’m asking for Pitocin earlier because there’s no way I’m laboring for over 48 hours ever again! I can’t fathom what I would’ve done without my husbands support ❤️ I’m so glad to finally have my little man here with us!
