What are your routines with your babies?

I am struggling to come up with/stick to a schedule with my 5 week old. We would ideally like him down for the night in his bassinet by 8:30 but somehow that never happens no matter how hard we try lol. What are your daily routine with your babies? Im trying to figure out where i can make some changes! Thank you!

Too early for a routine still, so that's probably why it doesn't work.
8.30 seems late to me, but if it fits your everyday life then go for it. But a routine won't work before three months at earliest 😊

At that age a timed routine usually isn’t going to work. With my first a routine emerged around 8 weeks but that’s super early. I followed her. She started consistently going to sleep around 9pm so I worked around that. My second didn’t get into a routine until daycare started at 3 months. When they were your baby’s age I started a bedtime routine after the bottle they took nearest dinner time. Bath, lotion, book, bottle, and turned down the lights in the house.

At 5 weeks, I don’t thinks it’s too realistic to have a set schedule. Just when you think you have a good routine/schedule, then they will change it up in you. Too many sleep and eating changes, growth spurts, leaps, regressions, teething, milestones that will cause upset to a schedule. I suggest just following baby’s lead for a couple more months before you can really consider setting a schedule. If I remember correctly, we couldn’t really have a set schedule until my son was about 6 months. By then, he was taking naps and eating roughly at the same time everyday. But then eating sessions became further apart, we introduced solids, he slept longer stretches at night with bigger wake windows. At 10 months he had dropped down to one nap. That’s really when we were finally able to establish a solid routine and schedule. We stuck with that schedule until just after turning 2, when he stopped napping completely. I think it’s better to plan to remain adaptable at this time.

At that age we started a bedtime routine but didn't stick to a specific time. Our little ones typically fall into a routine between 3-4 months

Honestly at 5 weeks it’s impossible to have a routine just yet. I’d just take it day by day and eventually you’ll fall into a routine.
