Am I too sensitive?

After I got out the shower today I had my hair tied in a high bun and sat on the bed. My bf was sat across the room on a chair. He stared at me straight for a few seconds maybe like 4 or 5 it made me uncomfortable so I said what? Then he said “are you sure you’re not an elf?’

I think he was referring to my ears bcos they do protrude a little I use to be super insecure about them but not so much anymore. Except him saying that comment made me think back to when I was younger and hated my ears. I honestly just wanted to cry there and then but I know it’s stupid and he wouldn’t understand so I didn’t.

Btw it’s not like my bf hasn’t seen my ears before lol or my hair tied up like that so I dont know what his game was making the comment like??? Does this just sound like he was tryna make a joke and be funny? It didn’t feel that way at all for me but I guess maybe it’s bcos my ears are a touchy subject.
