Do you think hes confused about whether or not he wants to get back together?

We had a great relationship but he just got promoted and we couldnt see each other much so he called it off. He said he wants to be friends and that maybe later this yesr we could get back together. He said if hes gonna focus on a relationship and if he were to want to get in relationship again he would seek out me and only me. I of course am not gonna wait around, so ive moved on from that future and i can live without him. Well we didnt see each other for 3 weeks. 2 of those weeks he didnt text me (for a very valid reason) This past week he initiated texted me every single day, and a few phone calls. He said he missed me and has been thinking of me a few days ago. We met up last night, went for a drive. I was uncomfy, bc we havent talked about our feelings really too much. But he kissed me at a red light, it was cute. So i loosened up. We ate at his house, watched a movie, cuddled like we used to. Very cutesy and romantic cuddles. He gave me forehead kisses, was being a gentleman. We scratched each other backs like we used to. He also had my love notes and our dates pinned on a board in his room still. Then we made love after, and um he came inside me. He never has before and always wanted to bc thats a huge turn-on for him. but i just started birth control so i felt fine with it. Then he got paranoid and said “were not ready YET for Amalia” in my head im like “yet? Hm” And btw Amalia is the girl name that we both fell in love with, and joke would be our daughters name if we ever had one. He kept asking if i have talked to anyone or don’t anything and i haven’t, and neither has he. He would use his phone in front of me still, and i felt comfortable doing the same. Idk honestly i know i type all this but i just want some outside opinions. My emotions have kind of signed off. And i have such a wall around me heart. If he never talks to me again ill be fine. But he still talks to me and treats me like he wants me and has missed me so much. And not just in a sexual way.
