TDAP vaccine?

Is it possible just to get the whooping cough vaccine by itself, or is it mandatory to get the whole TDAP vaccine?

It protects against tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough. I will get it every time its needed as both diphtheria and whooping cough can be deadly to a baby with no immune system. Diphtheria is rare now in places where people are vaccinated like the US and it is rare because we continue to vaccinate against it. That being said, i am almost positive that you can get the vaccine seperately and not all together.

The vaccine comes as TDaP or TD. The first is tetanus diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough) and the second is only the tetanus and diphtheria. You can’t get only pertussis by itself. Some clinics don’t even carry the plain TD vaccine and only have TDaP.

You can.  The health dept and some doctors offices will order it for you separately .
