Choking on puke.

My 2 year old has been throwing up bile all evening. But when she does it she’s gargling it. She doesn’t spit it out. We have to keep pushing her head over to dump it out of her mouth. She hasn’t eaten anything since like 4pm and it’s 1am now. She’s drank some soda ( off brand 7up) and I tried giving her some bread and butter but she wouldn’t have it so I tried giving her a chocolate chip cookie but she didn’t eat that either. All she’s had was 2 small cups of the drink.

Since she’s doing that will she be better off sleeping in her bed or should I leave her to sleep in her high chair (that’s where I’ve had her so I could watch her all evening) I’m worried about her choking on it she had been slightly waking up every so often to throw up a bit and then goes back to sleep.

I have her in her high chair and I was planning on sleeping in a chair right next to her.

I know when she’s in bed she likes sleeping on her back so I’m thinking that’s a bad position.

You should get some pedialyte. If she doesn’t like the taste mix it with apple juice or orange juice. You can try apple sauce, jello, popsicles. These are things that can help keep her hydrated and her electrolytes up.

also sprite or ginger ale might be easier on tummy since it has less sugar than 7up

Is she peeing? Any pain? Fever? Stooling normally? I find this a little strange because reflexively she should be spitting it out. Is she lethargic? Vomiting is forceful. Is it actual bile? Yellowish/bright greenish? If so, call her doctor ASAP. Bilious vomit can indicate an obstruction. That should not be happening. Clear is okay; sometimes people confuse clear liquid/mucus with bile, but they are not the same thing.

That is so interesting. I used to be a PICU nurse- never saw or heard of that! Totally worth mentioning to the pediatrician. Poor kid. I’d probably keep an eye on her overnight then. I’d be afraid she’d aspirate too.

It’s yellow she hasn’t been eating so she has nothing to throw up. I think she just has a stomach bug because her sister was throwing up yesterday. Also the nursery teacher said it was going around the nursery. To be honest I’m like 90% sure she’s autistic. So I think her reflexes are just off. She’s just sitting there straight up leaving it in her mouth. I’ve never seen it before but that’s my guess of why. She did wake up for a bit and just seemed sick but fine. I think she only tired from the meds I think.

I'd call your pediatricians after hours line and see what they say
