Bleeding while still taking hormonal pills

I’ve been taking oral birth control pills for years. I’ve never had this happen before, I am waiting to hear back from my DR but was curious if anyone else experienced this.

I still have 2 pills left before my placebo pills. So my period in theory is coming in a few days. I even took my pill on time last night.

But today, I woke up to a period. I’m so confused as to how that is happening if I’m taking the hormone pills and not yet on the placebo?

Anyone else ever had this?
