How does marriage in a different state work?

We live in Kentucky. We plan on getting married in gulf shores, Alabama on may 9th which was our little boys due date. We lost him back in November. It is very special to us as gulf shores is also where we conceived. I have no one to ask for advice on how this stuff works. I know our marriage license will be in Alabama, but do I just call their court house and ask? I’m sorry if I sound silly, just confused and have never done this before. Any advice would be appreciated!

my sister is getting married out of state this year, and i know the major thing is make sure you apply for a marriage license in the state you’re getting married in! and you may want to do it a day or two before your wedding date. congratulations in advance!

You can call them court house in the county you are getting married in. You may be able to get a license in any county in that state. We did that when we got married out of state; license in the closest county to us and then we got married later in another county in that state. You could also look for a day-of planner or wedding planner in Gulf Shores who could help you.
