Has this happened to you?

So irritated. I’m just about 40 weeks and was scheduled for induction tonight at 10pm. My doctor only delivers on Mondays which is why I planned for this day. The birthing center just called me to say they’re full and my dr has moved me to tomorrow night bcz I’m “an elective” and there may be a HUGE chance my dr won’t even deliver me. I’m so frustrated. Anyone else have this happen?

My OB has a rotation of like 7/8 doctors so when I go into labor I don’t know who I’ll get. I agree with some of the other comments though I cared more about the nurses I had than the doctor. One nurse I loathed and couldn’t wait until her shift ended she made me miserable. There was one nurse though who’s shift ended just after I had my son and I actually cried when she came in to say bye because I loved her so much. Besides my husband obviously, I felt like she took care of my son and I so well and was definitely a much needed rock during a traumatic L&D.

I went into labor naturally with my first and had him the only day my doctor was not working. It was highly frustrating but everything ended up being wonderful. The doctor was only there for the delivery anyway all my other care was done by my nurses and they were lovely.

Yup - this has been me for 2 weeks now.
My hospital is closing and opening a new one, so between that and my doctor not having very many shifts at the hospital, it went from being induced 3/1, to we will check on baby on 3/3 and see how’s she doing at the office and then schedule either that day or the next day. But since all her tests looked good, they moved the induction to 3/8.  I’ll be 40+6 and 5 weeks ago she already measured at 7.5 lbs! Thankfully I still physically feel okay, but mentally and emotionally I’m struggling. And the constant changes aren’t helping!

Of all 3 of my kids, I’ve never been able to deliver with a doctor I have met before being in labor 🤪. It’s not ideal, but if it’s any consolation it never caused a problem for me.  I actually interacted mostly with the nurses every time.  Only see the doctor briefly to be checked a couple times and then they come back when the baby is crowning.

There’s a chance anyone in labor will deliver without their OB there. My first was delivered at 6am by the on call dr. My second was delivered at like 8:30am by my actually OB. So even if your OB delivered babies everyday, there’s still be like a 50% chance of them not being there. Don’t worry about it too much- you’ll be okay and you’ll do great!! I didn’t care at ALL who delivered my 1st even though I thought I would!

The hospital being full ATM I get it but I wouldn't worry about the Dr. I'm sure they can find you someone unless you really prefer your Dr. I don't even have a set dr. 9 months seen by different ob and I'm sure they will send  whoever is available.
