Toddler sleep drama
Help! My kiddo has always slept through the night since sleep trained at 5 months old. She's about to turn 3, and we are struggling. Please read and offer advice.
First, it started with stalling at bedtime. Trying to extend her bedtime routine. I fixed this by creating a visual checklist of everything that we do at bedtime. She does well and goes down without a fight now.
She still wakes in the middle of the night asking me to "make her bed" when her covers fall off. It's a converted crib, so the blankets are less than 2 inches from the bed, the ground is very close. She has to sleep with these 3 blankets, and the top one is a heavy crochet blanket that maybe pulls the other blankets off. I've tried tucking the blankets in to help them stay put, no help.
She's also waking wanting her nighttime diaper changed. She's fully daytime potty trained. She wears a diaper to bed because we tried pull ups and she said they rubbed her leg weirdly. This morning she got out of bed and took herself to her bathroom, took off her diaper, and peed.
My thoughts:
Get a weighted blanket and ditch all the others, hoping it stays put?
Do I need to try to find different pull ups and then tell her she can leave her bed to go potty at night? We had an issue with her leaving her room at one point and wandering, so I don't want to start that again. However, her bathroom is connected to her bedroom. I think she will listen if I tell her she can only go to the potty and then go back to bed.
Any help is appreciated. I've got an infant (she sleeps great) and am pregnant with my third. I really need my oldest sleeping, as I am exhausted. ❤️
