Anyone else’s S/O think because you went on maternity leave that the house chores and other kids are now your responsibility, saying your a Stay At Home Mom now even though you’ll be going back to work 8 weeks after the baby is born?

I’m a stay at home mom and my husband does nothing …. NOTHING and I can’t take it ! I will say he is an over the road truck driver and he is only home one day a week but he does nothing when he is hear and expects the house to stay spotless (which it always is when he isn’t here even with 5 kids ) , but when he is home he makes constant messes and doesn’t bother to clean anything 😡. I’ve been home for 3 years and when this little one is about one I’m going back to work just so I can get out of this situation. I know it sounds messed up and I do love him but I can’t live like this forever . Oh yea and even when I was workin full time with 4 kids he still did nothing . It all fell on me .

Lol yeah that's not nice. I've always been a stay at home mom but I can not keep ahead of the chores without my husband's help this late in pregnancy. The kids (5,5,2) make messes or get hungry or generate laundry faster than I can deal with it anymore 😅

I’m a SAHM and my Husband and I agree that I take care of the kids during the day but housework falls to both of us. I think explaining what it takes to run your day and that chores can’t be a part of that all
The time helps them understand.

This happened at first, but I explained that if I work too hard I’m gonna have too many contractions (Braxton Hicks).  Once I stopped fighting him on it and started going at a pace I could manage, he’s picked up the slack thank god.  At 9 months pregnant, I can’t do it all myself!  I’m not on maternity leave but I work part time so I’m home a lot.  Last night, he stayed up and cleaned while everyone slept, so grateful.  I don’t think husbands always understand how hard it is to move around this late in the pregnancy. Maybe spell it out for him in a kind way?  Hope it helps.  ❤️

Nope we’re partners. I stopped working in my second trimester & I’ll be a SAHM soon and my husband still helps out with chores around the house. It’s unrealistic to think that you should do every single thing to keep your lives running with a newborn and all he has to do is work with no other responsibilities.
