How necessary is the boppy pillow (short torsoed)

Debating on this since it's one of the things on my shower list I didn't get

I couldn’t nurse without it for at least the first few months. And even after it was a good thing to have for tummy time and lounging baby on sometimes. I’d say it’s worth having! If you’re not sure, look for one secondhand

I much preferred My Brest Friend. I used it 100% of the time the first 4 months.

I couldn’t imagine not having it. Especially at night when your dead tired. It’s a nice sturdy shelf to have baby on. They can also be used later on for steadying baby when they’re learning to sit. 
Most products are a preference, I feel. Women either say they’re a godsend or completely unnecessary. Lol. But I would say, more often than not, I see the boppy pillow on the must-have lists. The pillow at least isn’t a huge investment if you don’t end up using it.

We like ours for nursing and for letting the younger kids hold the baby on their lap.  We got ours secondhand 13 years ago and just bought a new pillowcase for it ☺️

I am plus size and the boppy didn’t fit around me well so I didn’t really use it for breastfeeding, and my daughter didn’t latch so I exclusively pumped, but I loved the boppy for tummy time as she got older and to lay her in next to me on the couch while I was pumping, especially if I was giving her a bottle while pumping.

I have both a boppy and a Brest friend pillow. The Brest friend provides better support for both mom and baby. But I do still find myself grabbing the boppy too so any breastfeeding pillow is a must in my opinion.

I recommend this brand instead. Much sturdier and will stay around your waist. Imo if you’re serious about breast feeding it’s a must have for the first 4-ish months. ❤️

Like some of the other comments said it’s nice because it can be used in other ways as well. Tummy time, sitting support & it helped us with reflux control.

Depends. I know some who does fine without. My SIL barely uses hers. But I couldn't live with it.
