Pregnancy after IUD

I have some questions that maybe someone on here can help me with. I got my iud removed on March 11th I didn’t have a period until about a week later lasted about 5 days. I just got my period again today. Are these likely real periods? Before I had my son and got the Iud I was very regular in my cycle so I had no need to use ovulation tests. I now would like to try to use them to give me a better insight on my body now my question is when do I start using the strips to test? After my period or while I’m on it? Please help I’m clueless to this.
