Age for baby to respond to parent voice and other sounds?

Naomi

I’ve seen different info online…curious when is “normal” or “age appropriate” for baby to respond to parents voice or other sounds?

For starters - he engages with us for sure! Smiles back and forth - super sweet! And when looking at me, seems to respond to my sounds - or could be my smiles? Hard to tell the difference?

But for sure I know that he doesn’t turn toward my voice or respond to it unless he sees me first. Same is true for other sound….if make noise on other side of his head, he doesn’t turn.

He is 11.5 weeks (2.5 months)….

Curious - others experiences?

Can’t recall if he had a hearing test at the hospital - but I believe that is common practice at hospitals, so I’m sure someone would have said something if there was an issue….

Thanks for sharing your experiences!
