Cat in new home

Hello all.. I don’t want hate for this but I want to say that getting rid of my cat was never the plan. I’ve talked to other about this so I’m hoping to get unbiased opinions about this. I’m having an extremely hard time with my mental health and I canbarely manage to take care of my kids, let alone myself. I moved out of my parents house in Jan, and just brought my cat 2 weeks ago. He’s having a very hard time adjusting to the change. My mom doesn’t want him around there, she never liked him just tolerated him. But here, he’s attacked my son 3 times, me 2 times. I know he prob just wants more attention but I don’t have the energy or mental capacity to take care of him. My daughter started crying so much when I told her I was considering getting rid of him. 🥺🥺 I do love my cat so much but he’s been so aggressive here. Doesn’t leave my side and I just don’t have the Will to take care of his needs rn. What are my options? I don’t want to hurt my kids.

**** i just want to clarify that he’s been my cat for 8 years. I just brought him from my moms 2 weeks ago.
