Potty training?

Question

Curious if any other moms have a little one that will be potty training around when baby arrives. My son for the first time today kept pulling his pants/diaper and pointed to the potty. I asked him if he wanted to go potty and he shook his head yes. So we sat him on the toilet and he was so happy kept laughing and wouldn’t get off for almost 20 minutes. He didn’t pee or anything but it got me thinking maybe we should try it and see if he is ready or not. He’s shown signs like hiding when he poops, he’ll take his diaper off if he isn’t wearing pants, he pulls at his diaper a lot like when there’s just a little pee. He’s 19 months old and when we potty trained our daughter she was 25 months. Curious if anyone thinks we should try it or just wait? Or if anyone else has any experience potty training a 19m old boy?

My daughter will be 3 next month and she is newly potty trained! She’s been doing really well, still has a few accidents here and there. It did take her a little while longer to get poop on the potty. I’m hoping she doesn’t have a regression when her baby sister arrives! I don’t think it will hurt to start introducing potty time and if your child is ready then that’s great! I just didn’t want to deal with potty training and a new baby at the same time lol

I’ve been trying to decide if we should potty train my daughter before or after baby too. She is 2.5 though and I feel like she’s probably ready, I’m just worried I’ve always hear they regress with a baby so I didn’t know if it’d just be better to wait until after baby arrives and closer to her third birthday.

I’d say go for it. My son was about 2 yrs 5 mos when we started and it went really well. We used the Oh Crap potty training method when I was on leave from work.  He basically ran around pant-less for about a week and then pants/shorts with no underwear for a while.  He only ever had 1 poo accident, and didn’t take long to catch on that pee needs to go in the potty. He also automatically night trained himself, which I think was just luck, but we never had to do pull ups.

My daughter is 2, and she uses the potty when she feels like it but mostly still uses her diapers/pull-ups. She will usually use the potty at bath time or occasionally if my husband or mom asks her if she wants to, but rarely for me. I was planning on waiting until after this baby comes to focus on potty training, around her 3rd birthday. A few weeks ago she started to refuse putting a diaper on so we went diaper free for a few days, the first day was good but by the third day she was refusing to use the potty and just holding it, so we went back to pull-ups and left her decide when to use the potty. Now we are definitely going to wait until after the baby comes to focus on potty training.

It seems to me that he is interested in potty training. I say just keep introducing it and go from there. Some kids are ready early and some aren't. My two who are already potty trained didn't get the hang of it until 3. That's when they fully were potty trained. My 2 year old is showing sign so I'm introducing it but idk of it'll stick just yet.
