Bad left hand side pain :(

I’m 16 weeks and trying to sleep on my left side. The last few nights I have woken up in agony with pain on my left hand side in my upper tummy (from belly button to chest) and shoulder. Nothing seems to help and breathing can be uncomfy when it’s sore. Phoned my midwife yesterday and she said it’s unusual but doesn’t sound related to pregnancy. I’m going to phone my GP today but wondered if anyone else had experienced this and had advice for helping it? Thanks x
