Is this reasonable? BF doesn't invite me to female best friends grad party

Question

BF gets invited to his female best friends graduation party and doesn't invite me as his plus one. He goes alone. I get uneasy and let him know what I felt: that the fact that I am not even thought of to bring to a party makes me feel like I did something wrong, if our relationship is not serious to him, or if he's hoping to score with someone else.
I haven't met any of his friends yet after 8 months of dating. He said it's because he was waiting for the right time OR bc his female best friend(s) make last minute plans and doesn't want to bother me at last minute when they do. But now that he knows, he invited me. 
I reject the offer and say, I don't want to force you to invite me to see his friends if he's not ready, so I will skip out on the grad party. He says he will invite me to future ones now that he knows. 
We're his reasons for not inviting me legitimate or do I still have reason to worry?

Why wouldn’t you just go once he finally invited you? It’s what you wanted in the first place and then you could meet his friends and see for yourself if shady shit was going on.

Men are usually oblivious to the things we feel unless we tell them. I would have worried if he said he wouldn’t invite you and call you toxic or something because that’s what they do when they don’t want you to do/go something with them.
