Could bring pregnant interfere with a promotion?

I just found out I am pregnant and I’m in complete shock. Like shock. 
Anyway I’ve been in the talks about getting a promotion at work, not a huge one but still something. Once I tell my boss (later down the line) that I’m pregnant, could they ruin my promotion or job?

The real answer is that it shouldnt. But in reality? There is bias and you’ll be out for weeks if not months for the baby. It will be taken into consideration for the betterment of the company. Is this right? No. Can we change these biases? Unfortunately it’s more complicated than black and white.
My mom lost her job 3 weeks after she told them she was pregnant due to “other reasons” - she was 37
The baby daddy also lost his job 2 days after telling his company “due to other reasons” — he was there for over 15 years and was in charge of teamS of people. - he was 49
Sorry this isn’t the best news but I’d rather you be in reality than in a fantasy. Be mindful when and how you tell them.

Its always a possibility. 
Try to get the promotion first and then tell them about the pregnancy

Like the other commenter said, it shouldn’t and isn’t legal for them to fire you due to pregnancy, but it’s unfortunately something that happens. They likely would say it’s due to some other reason if they do not give you the promotion.
