Homeschooling?

Question

ISO moms/parents who are homeschooling/planning to homeschool, or just thinking about it. If you have already made this decision would you mind sharing the main reasons that helped you to choose this over public school? Also how many children do you have, etc. My children will be 3&4 by the end of this year so this decision is weighing heavily on me and I would like to hear from other moms about this, I do not have “mom friends” to talk with about it other than one friend who does public school.
*This post is absolutely not meant for anyone to argue about difference in opinion or to bully/shame anyone for their choices. Please no negativity.

We started during the plandemic when they announced distance learning and expected a kindergartner to sit in front of a screen and pay attention for 6 hours. So 2 years ago. I have 2 boys homeschooling (7&9) and 2 under 2. It’s really not hard at all. They each take about 1 1/2-2 hours to do all their work for the day and then they can play or do whatever. It’s really amazing! We are using the good and the beautiful curriculum. It’s above state standards which is nice, doesn’t teach common core crap, and is Christian based without shoving any crazy agendas at you. Best of all its by far the cheapest curriculum I’ve found. There are also pdfs of the books you can download and print for free. We also like Funschooling journals by Thinking tree.

I started homeschooling because my daughter had an IEP, and her needs weren't being met so she was falling behind academically. So halfway through 2nd grade I pulled her out while her twin finished the year in public school. We just finished 5th grade and she went from not being able to read to being at grade level. I love the individualized approach. Both my girls have adhd and it's nice to teach them in their own unique ways. We use Moving Beyond the Page and LOVE it. 
I always wanted to homeschool and it's been a really fun journey for us.

My oldest son went to a private school for 2 years. I saw his love of learning diminishing. I felt the workload was too much, eg homework in k and 1st grade, 10 page math tests, only 1 very short recess in the morning yet they do 1.5 hrs of math every afternoon when they havent had a break for hours. He did ok socially and academically, but it's like my curious happy kid became numb and learning was 'I have to' like a robot. I also didnt like the influence of a lot of the kids, and me having to discipline bad habits. We had been talking about homeschooling awhile, then I overheard him telling his younger brother in private "Im just not good at learning new things". I had enough. I withdrew him before the end of the year. Next school year, my younger 2 were pulled out of preschool, and now all 4 kids were home, then covid hit and I was glad I didnt have to deal with that nonsense. I see my son's curiosity returned, and my other kids are doing so well too. We put the tv in storage and no tablets because I saw them getting too hooked to screens being home. We mostly do unschooling, no set curriculum but they have a ton of learning resources, and we do the Scholastic workbooks.

I was an Au pair for 6 years and I homeschooled 5 children during the pandemic, I loved it and I always wanted it for my own kids.
I was raised by the schools growing up in France, my mother was single and working a lot I never saw her much and didn’t really bond or to this day have any memorable childhood memory.
I want to be with my children, part of their memory and spend as much time as possible with them. I don’t really understand the logic of letting strangers raising my kids, we are also multi cultural (I am french & my husband is America ) the children will be trilingual just with their mother tongues and they will learn the curriculum of at least two different countries. Better for me to just do it at this point.
I have seen the best of children turn into devil as soon as they hit the chill system, other people’s education and foul language and inappropriateness are ruining everything. 
In France it is also almost illegal to homeschool your children and I am disgusted at the lack of freedom.
The bottom line is :
Quality time 
Best of education 
Family bonding 
Longer childhood

I was homeschooled as a child so I knew I wanted to give my child/children the same opportunities to be taught one on one like I was abeka is a great curriculum but really you can use whichever one you see fit for you and your schooling method I usually teach my now 6 year old from work books for about an hour I incorporate reading time gym class and outside time all in her school day and she even has "homework" once a week homeschooling is so versatile and fun you can literally be creative with it and do whatever works for you it's a great experience for us
