Understanding Holiday Pay

I’ve been at my first big time job for quite awhile now. I’m still considered PT. I work FT when I’m out of school and PT when in school. Anyways, I’m trying to figure out if me working holidays is even worth it. I’m reading our handbook and it does say Full time employees will receive holiday pay ( even when they aren’t scheduled.) but as a part time I would only get holiday pay if I did work. Does that sound right? Because that’s how it reflects on my paycheck…but say I were a FT employee, what incentive is there to work on a holiday if you’re going to get paid anyways as if you did work.
