For me yes. My partner and I have been together 4 years. I told him if we are together anytime longer then 6 and there is still no marriage in sight I cannot be with him. Marriage is a big thing for me.

My situation was one you were talking about (been together since teens) we got married 10 years later. BUT... if we weren't together since our teens and started dating in our 20s, I'd still want to get married at least by 5 years together. I never wanted a big wedding. We didn't have one. Personally, if I could do it again I would have just done a courthouse wedding and saved the money so we could of had a longer/more extravagant honeymoon as I preferred our time together then. I didn't enjoy our wedding and being the centre of attention lol I was more worried about everyone else than it being a celebration of our love. I felt like our honeymoon was our celebration of our love and the wedding was for everyone else lol

Just depends on how much you value a marriage or marriage license. I’ve been with my man for 7 1/2 years, engaged for 5, still not married but it doesn’t bother us any, besides legal reasons like taxes or changing my last name we don’t really have a reason to, we don’t have family so we wouldn’t have a wedding or anything. As long as we’re committed to each other that’s what matters to us

For me yes, we’ve been together 9 yrs and are married with 3 children and building a second house, couldn’t imagine not progressing from girlfriend to wife with all of that, but marriage was equally important to both of us and we spoke about it when dating within the first year.

16 years I've been with my partner, we've talked about marriage at the beginning but never went through with it. For me I don't see how a piece of paper defines my relationship, I'm happy how we are and to me were married we don't need a ring to signify that.
