dating someone with a child?

i’ve recently been getting to know someone who has 3 children. i’ve never dated anyone with children before so when he asked me out i was kinda of hesitant because i think long term. i love kids don’t get me wrong but idk how to date someone with kids! any advice or pros/cons about dating someone who has kids?! i’m also 22 so maybe it’s the fact that “i’m still young” and i should “enjoy my youth” is what’s going on in my head but i still only like like this guy.

Personally, I’d lean into the thoughts of enjoying being 22 instead of taking on that responsibility at that age

With dating someone with children you aren’t just dating the father, you’ll become family to the children.
You’ll also have to love the children like your own. There’s also his children’s mother that is in his life so you can not have any jealousy issues.
It’s not easy to date someone with kids.

My only hesitation would be that he may be limited in if/how many more kids he wants in the future. I’ve always wanted to have at least three of my own so if he’s done or maxes out at 4 then I wouldn’t see a long term future. There’s also no harm in setting boundaries in waiting to meet the kids. Make sure you guys are going to be serious as to not hurt the kids in a break up.

So I met my bf when I was 29 and just like you I never would’ve dated anyone with a kid because I’ve been around my gfs that go through the whole baby momma drama or some guy friends that deal with the same thing.
Anyways when my bf told me he had a son it was kinda a turn off tbh because like I said I never wanted to date anyone with a kid just to avoid all that. For me personally it was hard to adjust first because if I was at home just chillin on my day off I would text him and ask him to come over and hangout with my but he couldn’t because he had his son usually he gets him on the weekends, when I wanted to just randomly go out to dinner or the bars I would ask him to come but again he couldn’t so it was hard to adjust to that. I mostly saw my bf during the week and once in a while I would see him during the weekend if I wasn’t working and if he got a sitter and we had planned something out for a Saturday. It got easier as I adjusted to his living situation we’ve been together for 3 years now and with our first baby on the way. 🥰

Step parenting is HARD. Seriously....my stepson drives me insane still and I've been with dad 6 and a half years lol. I can't imagine 3 step kids. If your not ready to be a step mom at some point then consider not dating him.
