So this happen last December I know long time ago. My boyfriend & brother in law had a drunk night. We were all asleep besides them and my father. They went to the garage attic idk why but, my brother in law fell through the attic and there is a huge hole. My boyfriend never went through the hole. But, they want him to pay half of it. Should he pay half of it or no?

It’s an attics you’re meant to walk on it if it broke because it was an unstable structure then that is a home owner problem and was probably a pre existing problem with the home not actually cause by them walking on it. The home owner should pay for it. It could have killed somebody and they could have been sued for it.

I hit yes by mistake. No he shouldn't have to pay because he didn't cause the damage. But I got questions. Were they horsing around/play fighting/your boyfriend pushed or shoved BIL which caused him to fall? If so, he may warrant some responsibility. Because if both of them weren't fooling around it may not have happened in the first place. But otherwise, no he shouldn't be responsible. If they want to spin it like that since your father was there he should bear some responsibility too and split the cost 3 ways
