Accepting a Job Promotion at 16 weeks 🤰🏽

B

I’m 16 weeks pregnant and have been offered a promotion at my job, where I’ve worked for the last 8 years. I accepted the offer, as it is a job I’ve always wanted and it comes with a very nice bump in my salary, but now it will be awkward when I have to reveal the pregnancy to my new manager. I’ve held off on a major announcement because I knew that I was up for this promotion and didn’t want to compromise it. I’m due in December which means I’ll only be working in my new role for +/- 6 months before I have to go on maternity leave. I plan to have a talk with my new manager about a month before I go in for the scheduled c-section. That’ll give them enough time to find a backup while I’m out. I’ll be out for about 4 months. My biggest worry is that I’ll be replaced and won’t have a job to come back to. This will be my 4th maternity leave since I’ve been with the company and I’ve always had a job to come back to but not under these circumstances. I’m a ball of emotions between feeling blessed, excited, and grateful to feeling anxious and worried. I manifested a pregnancy and a promotion at the start of this year and look where I am 🥹. We truly have to be ready for what we ask for. 💫✨🌟

Update:

I finally broke the news at 20 weeks. My new manager seems supportive about it. She’s a mom of multiples. She gets it. I can’t speak on what the future holds but I’m optimistic about it. I’ll be working hard these next few months to learn my new role while balancing my personal life and preparing for new baby. 🙏🏽
